Watch this space for the new Department of Defense and Veterans Health Administration Shared Training Initiative!

 VHA and DOD, through the Joint Incentive fund, will begin broadcasting medical training and professional continuing education over the GETN.  Existing VHA programs being broadcast through the VA Knowledge Network (VAKN) will be rebroadcast through the Army and Air Force’s uplinks thereby making them available to the medical community with the GETN viewing audience.  Army and Air Force will also broadcast training originated by the DOD medical schools, which in turn will be rebroadcast to the VHA.

 This initiative, which is to begin in July 06, will support the sharing of live and taped broadcasts on a 24 x 7 basis.  In addition, in times of emergency, the GETN and VAKN systems can function as a real-time secure communication link between DOD and VA leadership and the DOD base commanders and VA medical facility directors.
